Learn about how we keep green.

Northern Light Inn is surrounded by moss covered lava, on top of abundant natural energy, in the heart of Iceland’s UNESCO Reykjanes Global GeoPark.

  • It’s a clean, geothermal energy power station using hot water from renewable geological sources.

The HS Orka Svartsengi Power Plant creates hot water for the Blue Lagoon, electricity, drinking water and heat for homes as well as work places without adding to the world’s carbon footprint.

  • Geothermal heating throughout the hotel.

Only geothermal generated electricity is used.

    LED lighting replacement program.

    Towel washing policy.

Go Green with us and we don’t clean your room during your stay if you stay more than one night.

    Soap dispensers with quality soaps.

    Recycle bins in every room.

  • We are part of the initiative called Society Without Waste. It’s a community goal to create a clean, healthy, environmentally friendly, sustainable world.

Many resource streams have been created from the area’s renewable geothermal energy: the Blue Lagoon, aquacultures, restaurants, hotels, sustainable tourism and biotech businesses. More than 500 jobs have been created within the Resource Park.

The Resource Park fosters a Society Without Waste and HS Orka ensures that all resource streams flowing through these companies are utilized to their fullest, for everyone’s well being.

We take pride in being one of the founding companies in the area, and thank you for joining us in a Society Without Waste.
